Scada And How It Relates To Industry
Scada is shorthand for supervisory control and data acquisition. Scada systems are computer-led control systems used to monitor and control industrial processes. They are used in many different environments – for example manufacturing, power generation, refinery, fabrication and food production plants. Other applications include water treatment works, gas and oil pipelines, power plants and communication centres. Airports, space stations and the shipping industry also employ this type of system.
Supervisory control systems may be publically or privately run. Depending on the programming they may be run in batch, repetitive or continuous mode. The growth of Scada systems in recent years has been enormous. Much is due to the expansion of digital technology, which has streamlined procedures and introduced a higher level of complexity and efficiency. Today, these systems have a range of applications from controlling manufacturing processes to monitoring energy consumption of heating and ventilation systems.
What is SCADA System?
SCADA stands for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition. The SCADA refers to an organization, which collects data from different sensors at a plant, factory, or in other distant locations. They will then send this data to a computer that controls and manages the data. SCADA is a word that is used mostly to portray management and control solutions in a broad range of businesses. There are several parts of a working SCADA. A SCADA-system generally takes account of signal hardware (the input and the output), networks, controllers, communications equipment, user interface (HMI), and software.
